An Interview with William Schenkel of Feel Good Massage

Hi All-

Today, I had a chance to interview William Schenkel of Feel Good Massage.
William has a growing massage therapy enterprise serving the Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, La Puente, Baldwin Park, West Covina, Covina, Whittier, Lakewood & Cerritos communities.

AY: Can you tell me who your niche market is?

WS: I cater to all, young or old, men or women. I say it like this, a client is a person, just like we all are, but when we take the time to know who they are, then they become more than just a client, they become a friend. I know some people may say that this is an unprofessional practice, but I am a people person, and I feel it makes me a better massage therapist because of it.

AY: Do you specialize in anything… any particular massage skills?

WS:
I typically do Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, and Pregnancy massage, but I dosometimes add Reflexology and Trigger Point Therapy into my massage sequences.

AY: What should someone look for in a massage therapist?

WS: I'd look for someone who has had a good amount of education, in my opinion somewhere between 300-1000hrs is a good amount.

AY: Why?

WS: I feel the more education you have, the more a massage therapist will have to offer.

AY: Can you explain the benefits of your massage methods?

WS: I can't really explain it. It's more like a spiritual experience because before I start I close my eyes to connect with the energy of my client, then I start. I guess you could say that I "take into myself" their stress, or whatever was bothering them, then they are better as a result. After I am done, I pray and meditate to release whatever negitive energy I picked up.

AY: What makes a good massage client?

WS: Someone who knows what massage is and what it isn't.

AY: What equipment(s) do you use in your massage therapy sessions?

WS: I use my table, my oils, sheets, some music, and my client forms (this is more important because I have a statement in it saying that massage isn't a medical profession, and that if in the session, the client does something inappropiate..i.e...a sexual advance, then the session will be terminated and they are responsible to pay for the session..no matter if it was 10 mins or 45mins..that is why I make sure they read it first.)

AY: What goes through your mind when you're massaging a client?

WS: lol.....what goes through my mind is the voice of my teacher....lol....I hear her voice talking me through the sequence...lol....I miss ya Mrs Landeros

AY: What is your advice for anyone who wants to kickstart a healthier lifestyle?

WS: Diet, Exercise, water, water, water.

AY: Thank you for your time William. I want the readers to know that they can stay at home or at their office. William travels to you so when he arrives, just be ready to "lose yourself" with his therapeutic touch. Once again, best wishes on your prospering business.
